Phillip Hammond Defence Secretary ( he who has left Justine Greening with a potential `Buffoon` toll road scenario )
has told Cameron to make a very embarrassing `U` turn on the most controverial cost cutting of the Royal Navy
aircraft carriers project..........Cameron`s revision....the modification of the JSF ( Joint Strike Force ) has spiralled out
cost control by £ 2 billion................
Another ill-conceived knee jerk cut..................fkn...

If you're referring to the Queen Elizabeth, Reg, it not only has gone up by a few billions more than originally agreed in order to build, but will be moth-balled as soon as it is ready.
The Government had been advised that to scrap the order to build the carrier would have cost more on compensation than to go through with the construction.

ah well we see the rewriting of history by MOD civil servants & Navy Officers etc. to justify the current political agenda; oh and of course the ritualistic damning of the previous administration even though they were advised by those self same experts and ordered what those experts at the time agreed was the best option. But why let the truth get in the way of making the government "look like it is doing something" and making the opposition look bad...

This whole thing gets curiouser and curiouser. The carriers were (allegedly) designed so they could be easily retro-fitted to accommodate conventional carrier aircraft through the fitting of 'cats and traps'. In fact the MoD originally even went so far as to suggest a new type of cat would be favoured. So why suddenly is it so expensive? Why does this (allegedly) delay the carriers by 7 years? Is someone in the MoD playing some kind of game?
I said a long time ago that they should fit the cat and traps, drop the F35 and buy the F18 Superhornet and other conventional aircraft. The saving on the aircraft purchase alone would save a lot of money, they could equip both carriers and fit them with cat and traps even at the 'new' expensive price.
