we get all these people breaking records crossing the channel from dover and we only ever get to hear about it afterwards.
this morning a team of 5 teenage schoolchildren rowed across in a celtic longboat in 5 hours and 40 minutes.
any money raised will go to the "help for heroes" charity.

Well done to them, but as you say Howard, why no publicity ?
Good cause the "Help for Heroes, but I'm learning more about the British Legion who actually do so much more, but again, don't publicise what they do very much.

Heavens is that what it was...I saw an unusual looking longboat ..a kind of bluey green on the beach yesterday. The tide was very low because of the full moon and the boat seemed stranded a fair way out. The fact that it seemed stranded caught my eye...had no idea about the cross channel attempt.
Well done to them.

Would love to have seen this. But, wasn't it the Vikings who had longships?

Well here's another side of the 'youth' coin a group of teenage boys have been detained by French police in connection with an incident on board a cross-channel ferry apparently the youths, aged between 13 and 18, are being held in the Calais region, the boys will be questioned by French police officers in due course, but it is not yet known what happened on the ferry.
The 11 teenagers are understood to be members of a youth football team from Kent,

Just goes to show that teenagers are as varied a group as the middle-aged!!
