Charlie is proving to be an effective constituency MP and that is all it is reasonable to ask of a new member. Keith, you say he is no better than all the others yet I can see a number of things he has helped to bring about; while none of them are his sole achievement (nothing ever is in politics), most of them would not have happened without his rattling cages in Westminster/Whitehall.

I can see his involvement in the Peoples Port, an initiative which the majority of Dover's population support. I saw him being instrumental in raising the case of a constituent at Foreign Office level which led to him being released from trumped-up charges in Kabul. He has taken up a number of cases where the NHS has let local people down grievously. He helped to get high speed trains through to Deal and Sandwich and he, Paul Watkins and Laura Sandys have succeeded in getting the Pfizer site designated as an enterprise zone.

Perhaps Keith could tell the forum what Charlie ought to have done instead of the above. Certainly none of his predecessors did as much for the constituency in a whole parliament as Charlie has done in his first year.
