The WW2 air raid shelter entrance in Noah's Ark Road adjacent to Noah's Ark Terrace may not be a listed building but it,and the tunnel it leads to (opening out through the hillside in Coombe Valley),appears to be in the process of some sort of development.Part of the entrance tunnel seems to have been demolished. Is this not a historical feature?Does anyone know what planning consent has been given here and with what regard to the historical, within living memory, significance the site has?

The entrance in Coombe valley used to come out at the rear of Barwicks which i think is now the site of the new houses on the corner of Randolf rd.A few years back there was an open day in Tower hamlets at the Arc centre and the tunnel was open to the public with guided tours. Was very interesting to see,so much of its original fittings, old messages written in pencil etc were still there.Would be a shame if it was lost.

Perhaps looking at that and the planning application, the tunnel will be buried under the hardstanding for the cars?
There's quite a lump behind the doors. Perhaps it will be "Brook Housed"?
