Sorry but a church is not appropriate at all. It would exclude those of other religions. Why not ask those who do manage to avoid H&S issues but leave wreaths in situ? I have seen wreaths laid in the most unlikely places on our travels or postings when my husband was alive. Some comments on here truly show total lack of moral decency and respect. There is a responsibility that comes with posting on a public forum, allegedly representing a town. Why not look how places like Whitfield or River manage? Too much effort? Have you spotted the wreaths, still secure and in place just a short walk up from the memorial used? And is it truly a memorial that belongs to DTC? I thought it belonged to the people of Dover, as do the offices our Cllrs use, unless my research was wrong. It's so frustrating that it all appears to be a secret when after all, everything the council claim as theirs, is literally the property of the taxpayers and they had the honour bestowed upon them to have the privelege to maintain and take care of it so it remains as a heritage for future generations ? Perhaps a new post should be added about problems caused for the Roman Painted House? Problems caused, yet again , by an accountable employee with either very little self control or very little supervision. Why does it always happen in this historic icon of a town that should be bursting with activity, commerce and future prospects for others to build upon? Lack of leadership or lack of example? I researched Dover's history before moving here and it truly is nothing like it was any more. I am grateful for the first time in 6 years that my husband of 44 years is not able to witness what happened to respect. And it shames me to think that some think the past behaviour is acceptable.
