  I was going to the sub-post-office by the underpass last year and a young guy was verbally and physically abusing a young girl.
  
  I intervened and told him to pack it in, calling him a bully and to leave her alone.
  
  The verbal abuse I got back was so full of hate, I was actually shocked.
  
  I took the girl into the post-office and asked them to call the police, which they did.
  
  They guy ran into the Regency guest house next door where he was staying.
  
  The Police came (quite quickly really) searched the Regency, but couldn't find him and then talked to the girl.
  
  They did say they wanted to talk to me later, but never did, so I don't know what happened.
  
  Looking back, I could have been just another dead statistic, but when you see some yob beating up a girl, you don't (do you ??) just stand there thinking over the consequences of what might happen.
