  Had this email in today from the guys who run the Neighbourhood Forum evenings..some of you may have received it but just in case you didnt, here we are.....

  Dear Dover Resident,
  
  We are looking for six ordinary people to represent Dover residents at a consultation event in Maidstone on Saturday 29 October from 10.30am to 2.30pm.
  
  This discussion day is mainly looking at the local priorities and issues for next year. Where would you like to see your money spent and the areas of service you would like us to prioritise?
  
  If you are interested we need to discuss your possible participation over the phone.
  
  I would be grateful if you could email back any interest with your day time phone number.
  
  Taxi fares and lunch will be provided.

  I would have liked to go but will be working.
  
  Out of interest does that mean they are paying for six different taxi fares there and back. Why not use a people carrier for all six no wonder they have no money if this is how things are arranged, must cost about £50 each way so a minimum of £600 just for Dover residents then there are the other areas on top.

  mine too, cynicism does tend to take over when we hear terms such as "community engagement".
