I remember the name De Dion Bouton very well. Back in the old days in the seventies when I was somewhat involved in motorcycle racing..and I think Im remembering this correctly although the oul memory not what it was... English racing legend Phil Read MBE many times world champion and a chap i knew well, drove one of these to Brighton in the November Brighton Run. Not the car shown in the article but a later model. I hadnt heard the name before so it stuck in my mind.
You dont hear so much about that famous automobile run anymore. It used to be quite the thing. When novembers were novembers, all fog and mist, and everyone had a tartan rug on their knees. The stuff of empire!!
