The post you are reporting:
"The benefit society undermines the work ethic."
Work practices have changed over the last few centuries.
Machinery does a great deal of work, thus enormously reducing manpower. And horsepower.
However, some forms of physical work are healthy.
When I dig a garden, or a plot of field, I feel healthy, as well as happy. And enjoy tending it.
But I have been told that this is all ... never mind!
I like walking to work, but most people drive by in a car. Are they the healthier for it?
About 20 years ago I saw a programme showing that Japanese people, before going to work, go out in the street and do community gym for 20 minutes. Don't know if they still do, though.
A decent work ethic for the unemployed (and the 22% youth-unemployed) starts with getting up early and learning comradeship and doing some healthy exercise, as part of a group and with some skilled trainers.
Then learning some basic skills, both in theory and practice (on site induction), and then, on being approved after a few weeks basic apprenticeship as part of the group, being employed.
This programme would be great for those who are unemployed, including the 22% unemployed youth.
And exciting, and fun.
It will one day come about. No-one can stop it coming.
