As the annual tennis extravaganza quickly approaches the lush greens of Wimbledon with the usual over blown emphasis on a male British winner since Stockport born (my birth place) Fred Perry won in '36 it may be worth noting that cash strapped BBC who are forever impersonating a scene from Oliver Twist with their begging bowl out asking the licence payer for 'more' have decided to hire another British failed tennis hope, Tim Henman, to commentate on this years play action and no doubt rain.

Now I don't want you to choke on your strawberries and cream (if you can afford them)
but he is being paid £14,000 ...per day...yes per day and will pocket a cool £400k for his 2 week stint.

Wooden top ''nice but dim'' Tim was critised by viewers last year for his monosyballic commentary. Just how long can the BBC justify these ''talent payments'' as they are referred to remains to be seen. It only attracted 3 million viewers last year..an expensive tradition to uphold.

    Your serve!
