If, as it appears they have blunt beaks, they are not sandpipers. Could possibly be Kentish Plovers but the beaks look a bit blunt even for them. They look like gulls. Have just been through my book of British birds but cannot identify them.
I thought they were gulls at first but the colouring is wrong and the legs look too long, more like those of a wader. I agree the beak should be longer for a sandpiper but it was all I could think of.
