Wonder if anyone saw the Jason Donovan 'Who do you think you are?' last night.
We were very pleased to see our friend (for 30 years) Jan Worthington, now a leading genealogist in Sydney, on the programme. She traced some of Jason's important ancestors in Australia for the programme.
Jan is descended from the WORTHINGTONS of Dover, and two years ago a Worthington worldwide group (organised by HJan) visited Dover for a weekend of studying the local families. Here is a picture I took of Jan at the dinner they held, with Diane Smallwood, who was then Mayor. Jan has written the book "Coopers and Custom Cutters" about the Dover Worthingtons, who were prominent Dover business people, one of whom owned and ran the Ship Hotel on Commercial Quay. Worthington Street is named after one of the earlier ones. The family were customsmen, wine merchants (caves in Snargate Street), Doctors, etc. One wrote the 'plan for Dover Harbour'.
