  50 mph is too fast for that road. I always go down in 40 tops. Inevitably you get the odd tailgater but the world is full of idiots. Calculate the time saved travelling downhill doing 40 instead of 50 and in the grand scheme of things it's really not very much.
  If it's raining or icy I'll drop down even lower.
  The trouble is that most drivers, even if they spend 40 years driving are really unable to cope with most emergencies even if they kid themselves that they can. Most never really experience dangerous situations very often and when they do it's one big shock for them.
  Speed and distance from the car in front is something most motorists fail to take into account properly.
