Whitfield Hill accident details.

Whitfield Hill in Dover was closed for more than three hours on Saturday afternoon (28 January 2012) after a car and bus collided.
Four women passengers were on the single-decker bus and three had to be taken to hospital as a precaution to be treated for minor injuries.
The 18-year-old man driving the Vauxhall Astra was treated at the scene by ambulance staff.
Police were called to the collision at 11am. The bus left the road following the collision and ended up stuck in an embankment.
The road was closed to allow emergency services to work at the scene and for the bus to be recovered from the bank. It was re-opened at 3pm.email: dover7@msn.com - 30 January 2012 17:48150348Found out about closure on Saturday on my way to Crabble, no problem go down Melbourne we decided only to meet a ruddy great queue, we eventually got to the cause of the queue, traffic lights that were stuck on red both ways!! and when I arrived at the ground much later than usual someone was sat in the seat I always sit in!! other people actually missed the kick off. Glad nobody was badly injured in the accident.Audere est facere.

i think that the road does invite speed and the inexperienced motorist might be tempted to overstretch him'herself.

- 2 February 2012 21:1115114050 mph is too fast for that road. I always go down in 40 tops. Inevitably you get the odd tailgater but the world is full of idiots. Calculate the time saved travelling downhill doing 40 instead of 50 and in the grand scheme of things it's really not very much.
If it's raining or icy I'll drop down even lower.
The trouble is that most drivers, even if they spend 40 years driving are really unable to cope with most emergencies even if they kid themselves that they can. Most never really experience dangerous situations very often and when they do it's one big shock for them.
Speed and distance from the car in front is something most motorists fail to take into account properly. - 2 February 2012 21:16151144In the grand scheme of things between driving 40mph and 50mph would be 4 whole days of driving for me in year !!!
Driving appropriately to the road and traffic conditions are what is important.... that is still the drivers fault and not the road.
To me it seem that people are taught to pass the test, not taught how to drive

I was suggesting that that particular road's speed limit should be brought down to 40 mph and not bring a blanket road speed limit on all roads to 40 mph. By driving safely at the lower speed on that stretch the difference cannot be more than say 20 seconds or so. Not worth worrying about that small amount of time really.
