Dear Sir/Madam,
Last summer, you signed up to be on the mailing list for the White Cliffs Landscape Partnership Scheme. I thought I would take this opportunity to update you on the progress of the scheme.
We are close to submitting our bid to the Heritage Lottery, which will fund conservation, access and community projects across the Dover and Folkestone area. As a result of our consultation with you, we now have firm plans for the projects we want to take forward. These range from restoring the chalk downland landscape, to young people making films about how they value their local environment.
I would like to you invite you to an open day on Saturday 18 February at Dover Discovery Centre, where you can come and find out more about the scheme and projects, have a chat with staff, and take part in the free activities on offer. There will be the chance to have a go at the old country craft of felting, making felt from sheep's wool; there will be plenty to keep youngsters occupied, with local group Arty Crafty teaching them how to make 'boingy butterflies' and lizard keyrings.
There will also be other activities running that weekend, to celebrate the different aspects of our landscape and heritage. The events will be a taster of the type of events that we hope to run in the future.
We will be at Dover Discovery Centre from 10am until 3pm, in Rooms 111 (Art Room) and 112. Locally made pasties and apple juice will be available on a first come first served basis! The event is free and open to everyone.
