Hi
Does anyone know whats going on at the lower and upper playing fields on Eaton Road.A large number of Portaloos have been delivered and a large white marquee erected. At present there are 4 or 5 large kites flying high in the sky directed from people on the field but it looks like they are expecting quite a crowd this weekend.

Ah, I ask myself. Where's the advertising? Well it's been mentioned in the press and there are posters around the town.
It is the biggest kite festival ever to hit this area. It's all part of the Festival of Dover.

This is an international event. Huge kites flown by professionals.
I'll be there doing my small part, come and say hello.

Thanks Terry
...I must go around with me eyes closed

but I read the Express and didn't see it advertised in there either.Last years event attracted 8000 visitors!!!!Pity there wasn't a bloody great big banner across from the Town Hall displaying the event.
Natascha is on duty as Miss Rosebud at the Teddy Bears Picnic in Deal tomorrow but we will certainly visit it Sunday.
It will be one of the biggest events in Dover this year I would have guessed.

The wind speed tomorrow is forecast as 7mph. That's just 2 on the Beaufort Scale, aka a light breeze.
I hope that's enough for some hot kite action.

The wind is pretty good at the moment as a few competitors are putting in some practice before the weekend.A smashing site for a perfect summers evening.

This has taken over one year to put on I first came up with this idea afer seeing on a webb site, some years ago I got to know the Kent Kites and asked them if they could do one in Dovor, after talks they said Ok but it would take funding, when I was the chairman of the D/Festival I wrote about 25letters or more to local business asking for funding for the Dovor Festival, and before you say it at that time I was calling it Dover, anyway I did not have much luck, so I aske the D.T.C.and I say it again if it had not been for the town council none of the events in the festival would have gone ahead
and it is a very big thank you to them for all their help over the past year or two, I was hopeing to be at the opening at 10am but I have to go to work on that big hole along our sea front but at some time over the weekend I and my wife will get there, I hope you all go along there and have a good time.

I think you were walking in as I was walking out. Yes looked good but a bit thin on the ground at 3pm. I do hope that more people will go tomorrow as it looked like the only element missing, that and the wind.
Watched the last display of the day and it was really impressive. I will be going again tomorrow with the whole clan.

Vic it might be a new idea to you but when I was Chairman of T.T. and C.F on the Town Council we had kite making and flying at the Ark about 5 years ago.
If you knew what I know,we would both be in trouble!

Loved the guy who did a bit of the commentary, if ever they bring back the Goon Show!
Go and see the LRCF stand and the delightful Jeanette (posts somewhere else methinks)
