  just inside the entrance to the great tower at the castle commissioned by henry 11 can't remember who it was dedicated to.

  Close but no banana! The chapel you are thinking off is often refered to as the lower chapel or St Johns chapel, and is no longer in use, but this one is!

  i keep thinking of st mary in castro but that was 10th century and not dedicated to anyone as far as i know.

  It's the Upper (Royal) Chapel in the Great Tower of the Castle, dedicated to Thomas Becket.

  Well done SW Wood! Dedicated to Becket around 1183, and in which the Becket service is held in early December every year.
