Being serious when I return to Stockport one of the first places to build a shopping centre they incorporated the old streets with the new precinct.ie Woollies,Marks&Sparks and others had to build new doors fronting the precinct as well as those fronting Princess St the old shopping High St.Instead of building out of town Tesco they built one right in town albeit to the end of the precinct and guess what all the other stores followed asda Morrisons sainsbury etc.Not a charity shop in site.Ample parking with a multi storey that had a lift going straight down into the precinct just outside the co-op.And no it wasn't built recently it was built in the late 60's and became so popular that other leading stores followed.Incorporated with the old pubs and new restaurants its a place to visit even if you just want to window shop.
