  Thought I would also post this here if anyone is interested in the event.
  
  The Western Heights Preservation Society are pleased to announce that following the success of the event at the start of 2011 we will be repeating the members' social evening on Saturday 21st January 2012 at 7pm in Dover.
  
  On the agenda we have:
  
  - Friends of the Great Lines. A lot of work has taken place over the past few years on the Chatham Heritage Park which Tony Bartolo and Chris Price will give us an update on
  
  - A quick update of the past year from the WHPS Committee and let you know our plans for the coming year
  
  - There will be an announcement of an exciting fun raising event taking place in April !!
  
  - Finally Phil Eyden will give an update on some of the discoveries he has made during his recent research
  
  There will be no charge for the evening, but there will be a donation bucket should you wish to give a few pennies and there will also be a fund raising raffle. During the break there will be time to catch up with friends and members. We will be supplying wine and soft drinks, but feel free to bring any 'nibbles' along to share
  
  If you wish to attend, please book a place by emailing Paul Wells (paulwells75@btinternet.co​m) and you will be sent full details in the New Year. Seats are limited by the size of the venue so it is essential that you book in advance.

  Fortunately we made enough 'profit' last year to replace our stolen tools, but thanks to the KCC Grant that we were awarded last year we will be working on getting a secure, and more importantly dry, store built in the spring

  It's in central dover, but I'm avoiding publishing the exact location to avoid gatecrashers and so I know how many people are attending :)

  I'm doing a talk on the wartime uses of the Drop Redoubt - I can still taste the chloroform and see the 'willing' signature!

  Bit of arm twisting never hurts !!
  
  We will also be holding a raffle on the evening so for £1 a ticket you have the chance of winning from a selection of prizes including:
  
  - A trip across the channel with Eurotunnel
  - A bottle or two of boozer
  - A selection of DVDs from Momentum Pictures
  - Various books and WHPS merchandise

  Nearly 60 people on the attendance list so looks to be a good evening - if anyone wants to come just drop me a line
  
  There will be a press release after the weekend announcing a fund raising event that will take place at Easter - all I will say is that it is mad !!
