    AMBITIOUS plans for a huge development in Western Heights and Farthingloe are set to be given the go ahead.

    A report has recommended permission be granted before the crucial Dover District Council planning hearing on Thursday.


    A total of £7.3 million could be forked out by the developers China Gateway International Plc to public bodies for supporting infrastructure.

    £5 million of this would be used to regenerate heritage aspects in the area, which previously the developers said they would take care


    But the huge financial gesture is not something which changed the minds of CPRE Protect Kent, who sent the Express a letter regarding the report.

    "CPRE Protect Kent is extremely disappointed and dismayed by the report," it said.

    "It is outrageous that this proposal is being recommended for approval. The housing development is almost entirely within a nationally important Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

    "This is entirely a result of the fact that Dover District's Core Strategy adopted in 2010 set an unrealistically high housing target, which we pointed out at the time
