PaulB, I would like to state that locally, I personally never considered it of importance if the councillors were of one party or the other, because i think that on local questions, decisions go beyond party lines, for example Dover Port's status, DTIZ projects, hospitals, mass immigartation. I believe we generally tend to stick together, and any major misunderstandings tend to be ironed out.
On national questions, obviously it's different, because Parliament decides over many national issues that are also felt locally, positively or negatively.
I do believe though that if there is an election reform, this will see the UKIp in Parliament as well, and the Tories and UKIP do have more in common than either have with Labour or Libdems. For examplem Barry stated various times he is for Britain leaving the e.u., but not immediately. if the Tory party-policy is not for leaving the e.u., this could lead one day to a split in Tory Party policies, as many Tories are for Britain leaving the e.u., as the question is so essential to how Britain is governed. And one can't really govern within a system that is so preponderous in national questions as the e.u. is if one doesn't believe in this system.
