    Very naive that Alexander.

    The ballistic missile sub, or boomers, as they are nicknamed, are to deter a first strike nuclear attack.

    The USA is an ally but dont bet on them exposing themselves to protect us if we disarmed. I not convinced about the rest of the so called allies you name (yes, not even France) but the real danger comes from other areas, Iran and Korea who are developing their own nukes and then the possibility that nuclear armed Pakistan will fall to the Taliban.

    It is a dangerous world out there and we need a nuclear deterrant. As I have said I am not totally convinced of the form that the deterrant should take but there certainly must be one.
