    Regarding history, two of the five Regiments to disappear have a specific Dover connection too. Both formed an integral part of Dover life back in their day.

    The 2nd Battalion Green Howards were stationed at The Citadel, Western Heights, from 1922 to 1925.

    The 2nd Battalion Royal Fusiliers were stationed at the Grand Shaft Barracks, Western Heights, from 1938 to a week after war broke out in September 1939. They were immediately despatched to France to form part of the BEF.
