This decesion taken last night was discussed at length,I have been a member of a Trade Union for 38 years. The picket line at the Council was there from 07.30 because my wife who works close by saw it.
We support the right of everyman to strike and we support the action, most Cllrs will be joining the Rally March and at 10.00 this morning some were joining the picket line.
The Council knew of this strike action and choose not to change the meeting,as the strike action was only confirmed recently we could not decide this before.A decesion was made that what ever the decesion we would stick 100 % behind it.Yes we are sad that the questions and motions would not be asked but they can be asked at the next meeting.
After a lengthy discussion we agreed first not to cross a picket line, then we discussed wether we should attend because it was a day of action, again we had a long discussion and the vote was 15 for 1 abstention.
