Yes but Philip, Labour have also just announced they'll tax the wealthy, and will gradually transfer taxes from income to accumulated assets.
That makes two parties. The Tories will probably follow suit.
Perhaps you are forgetting that the Tories want to introduce more spending cuts, and that so far, according to their programme, only 20% of the planned spending cuts have been put into effect.
For the first time ever we are beginning to see a hoo and cry from the rich, because until now they think only the "others" can undergo the effects of austerity measures.
Yes OK, may-be some will threaten to up and go to another country with their riches, but these are just reactions, outbursts, if you like hysterical shouts. But even if the odd one lands in Spain with their money-bags on their shoulders, they might scarper at the first sight of rubber bullets being fired by the Police at angry protesters in Madrid demonstrating against austerity, and quickly return to Mother England.
So yes, we can expect a few aristocratic outbursts at the inevitable, at a looming Wealthy Taxy, but so what!
As a commoner, I'd say: who's bovvered!
