    Please catch up with what goes on in the actual economy. You might also look at the lessons of history as well.

    There are many companies producing and trading worldwide and with great success and protectionism has always been a disaster.

    The lessons are there.

    We have a serious economic situation now, one caused by government(s - not just the UK) taxing, spending and interfering too much, your ideas would make things far far worse.

    Seeing you speak a lot on economic matters, I trust that you and the others on the forum who do so watched the programmes about the opposing economists, Keynes and Hayak, taking such an interest in these matters as you do. If so you will see how the problems in our economy have been brought about by government even from two such opposing viewpoints.
