Well then let's look at Labour.
According to citywire-money, in a recent statement earlier this month, Shadow chancellor Ed Balls "has laid out Labour's plans to introduce a permanent wealth tax".
The LibDems had been campaigning for an emergency tax on the wealthy, but, following the same source, "Balls dismissed the idea of a temporary tax in an interview with the Independent as 'not in the real world', and said Labour could make a long-term shift away from taxation of income towards taxation of wealth."
Ed Balls has also suggested he would look at Vince Cable's idea for a mansion tax on properties worth at least £2 million.
So here we are, a rather more constructive case, and this should go to show that what I've been writing about in the past, with regards to a wealth tax, has now become standing campaigning policy among both Labour and the LibDems.
