I've just looked up the word Ponzi- and it 's not in the dictionary-it must be a recent colloquialism.
I reckon that successive governments in their criticism of individuals about getting into credit card debt-have had an absolute cheek.
I guess that all the time our governments have been able to service the country's debt that's fine.
What appears to be so incongruous is all this debt stuff is still occurring during boom periods as well. Surely that is the time to pay it all off-what on earth is wrong with being cash rich. Are there any countries in the world who are cash rich?
If there are not - then where is the damn money all coming from...Wonga .com ?
I see that the only other countries in bigger debt are Ireland and Japan. Ireland have had to go for an ignominious bale out. Could it be that we are doomed to accept all this stress as a way of life like Japan and bump along the bottom for all eternity?
In fact Japan seems quite happy with zero growth-perhaps that's the way to go.
