    Indeed you have, Brian.
I too was aware that public consultations are not binding, but a referendum as per Localism Act was meant to be binding.
But Parliament scrapped Localism when deleting the Referendum part.

Now local authorities can enact every piece of central Government policy with no need to bother what the population thinks or wants or doesn't want.

I used to take part in public consultations, and also strongly believed in the need to introduce the right to vote - binding vote - on important issues within the community after they have been debated and differing views from different people have been presented FAIRLY to the Public.

This is how people turn away from community participation, when Democracy is made to fail and local Government, acting on behalf of the Politburo in London, can do as they wish, no matter how unpopular or unwanted it may be, and how it may affect our lives.

Perhaps the councillors are satisfied, they can say they made a decision that was unpopular, and no-one could prove the opposite. Hence it was a popular decision. They can spin any unpopular decision round into being "utmost popular" and "in our best interests".

Is this what my Dad served 22 years in the Army for? For tyranny and slavery?
