    Also, representations in public consultations are not binding, and a council does not need to choose the most popular option when making a decision, such as on a planning application.

    Referendums were meant as binding, and because they would have likely put a halt to the Government's unpopular mass-building schemes, the proposed Localism Act was scrapped: without referendums on important issues, Localism is a dead word, a hoax!

    We have no democracy, we have been lied to.
    Our opinion does not count, we might as well live in a People's Republic where the local authorities do exactly as the central Politburo in London decides.
    Public consultations are just a hoax!
