Colette and Bern,
Get on a meter ASAP. I was listening to 5Live this morning and they were talking about water meters. Apparently if you are not on a meter you are being charged on the old rateable value of your house consequently if you live in a big house and only two people living there you are paying well over the top.
I have just checked my bills for the last 12 months and I paid Veolia for supply £132.36 and Southern Water for sewage £126.00. Total £258.37.
That is for a small 3 bed bungalow with big garden and two people living there. Band D council tax.
