Within 5 years the full weight of the new sustainability legislation will be upon us! For those who are not aware please get up to speed as I believe that it ( like HIPS ) is badly thought out and will affect everyday life in this country. It starts now!
I am referring to the rules for new construction and extensions which will inevitably be applied to existing dwellings.

I can quote many examples but specifically with water we will be required to plan for using 33% less water each and progressively new houses will not be able to send rainwater into the sewer system but must have inbuilt recycling systems.

I dont disagree with the plan but the way it is being brought in with many other measures is plain silly! I could rant at length at how the governments ( any colour) are bringing in legislation that some clown in westminster considers fullfils EEC directives but isnt at all practical.

The major gripe I have is that Planning approvals are making a Sustainability Certificate a condition on all new dwellings. Ask where you get one from and you will find a whole new raft of consultancies being set up in house by Local Authorities!!! Fees for 1 house range up to £6000 on top of other fees already in place. Let alone the cost of complying with the rules.

The world has gone mad - or someone has - so water meters are the very thin end of the wedge - believe me.
