  we are all aware of the work going on up at the castle to revitalise the above.
  
  members may be interested to know that there is a public meeting at st mary's parish centre on monday march 21 at 7.30 pm when the english heritage head of visitor operation one deborah newman will be giving a talk.
  
  the tunnels are scheduled to reopen in june.

  Brave of an EH manager to put their head over the parapet given the upcoming redundancies. I expect that the Q&A session may be a little charged. Maybe I'm a little cynical but is this just a case of sugaring the pill?
  
  I'm sure the new tunnels will look excellent, but I'm hardly minded to hand over £16 to an organisation that will be laying off friends and colleagues.

  i didn't see anything about a question and answer session phil, no doubt there will not be "enough time" for one.

  This is a Dover Society meeting, not a public meeting, that has been booked for quite some time, but yes the Q&A may be interesting

  one our members pat sherratt is a member of the dover society, i feel sure he will raise the issue of cuts.

  Yes, I hope it is open to the public Howard as you started a thread on it!
  
  DS used to regularly hold talks and anyone could go, but one might have to pay just a bit more entrance fee. The Dover Society is only £6 a year - that's just two pints to alcoholics like me - so it's probably worth joining anyway.
