Sheila, both Lyn Young and Dick Leggit fit your criteria to a tee but no honour. In lyn's case the refusal was purely the settling of old scores, not the most popular of people but by god she got things done. There is no excuse for refusing Dick Leggit.

As the decision appears to have been made at a sub committee level and not a full council, unless ratified at full council, then the decision can be reversed.

Those elected are meant to represent what we the electorate would want and it is blatantly obvious this was a decision we did not want so should be reconsidered. Many years go the council of which I was a member decided the Town needed a large clock to be placed at the junction of Tower Hamlets and London Road. Despite there being considerable public opposition to it we pressed ahead, with the result that the Independnt Alliance was formed to oppose us, not only were they successful but the face of Dover politics changed forever. I stongly suggest that those councillors who are hiding behind their anonymity learn the lessons of history.
