The photograph on that feature is absolutely great. Love it..hard to do.
The report stating motorists are doing alright is odd and I see it has been condemned by the AA.. It all depends doesnt it how you look at statistics and/or how you spin it, you can almost make statistics say anything you like when you lock into a favourable time period. It is true the Boy George stopped fuel rising by 3p a litre but it would have been laughable to allow it to go ahead..crippling what's left of our aching economy.
Of course we have all seen the fuel rise anyway..up and up it goes, then dips now and again, but then up she goes again. Tag all that onto crushing parking charges almost everywhere and you can see the problem. There is road tax, rising insurance...it never ends. There can be no doubt about it but HMG and local government always sees the motorist as a cashcow.

""Thank god they invented the wheel" says HMG" Well, the third and fourth etc. anyway.
In my ignorance I thought such shots were merely a matter of long-exposure?

Re the picture Tom..yes a long exposure but always tricky to get right as there are so many obvious extra pitfalls in the mix..but when it works it can be good. You can see how tricky it is to get ordinary day to day shots by some of my efforts on here...lol!!

the report makes a good point about rail and bus fares going up by more than motpring costs though.
it also says about motorists having the opportunity to make savings by changing to fuel efficient vehicles, whilst rail commuters are simply told to like it or lump it.
