People remember the fallen in different ways to be sure, however there are many that get comfort from having somewhere that their lost are noted and around which they can gather. Sadly conflict continues and lives are still lost in the service of this country and they should, indeed must, be remembered.
As I am not on the committee that discussed this I was unaware of the decision until very recently, even though it is obviously a decision that affects the whole town I would have expected it to be taken to full council. It was not and had it been I would certainly have voted against it. The three year pledge was made and should be honoured.
