In fact Vic, according to Pikes 1938 directory that was Henry Betts' greengrocer's shop. When we moved to Dover in 1949 (I was five) I spent Saturday mornings on my own walking round the town to get to know it. Imagine a child of five doing that these days.
Anyway after the war the only building on that side of the road left standing was the still operating Hoppers bakery at number 33, approximately where the sports centre is now. I took an interest as my parents ran the bakery at 4 and 5 Peter Street. I did have some pictures of that but when my mother died my brother put them all in his loft and then promptly "lost" them.
If Kath or Bob have any pictures of the Branch Street and Peter Street area I would love to see them.
Terry
