While I would never discourage anyone from standing, there is always a need for committed individuals with a passion for the town, there are things to remember not mentioned in the ads. Running will involve the whole of the candidates family and there is far more to it than just attending a couple of meetings a month. Anyone thinking of standing should attend a few council meetings first, just to get an idea of the public face. After that they should go through previous minutes on the councils websites and stop to consider the work behind the few simple lines, remembering that 'it was agreed' means a lot of discussions, paperwork and probably outside meetings to arrive at the 'agreed'.
