Those of you that use the Sports Centre are in for a shock, the car parking charges that were re-instated when you use the complex are now being done away with.
After 154 people objected to the new charges the Council will still go ahead with it.This we feel will hit the Sports Centre which is partly funded by Dover District Council, what is worring apart from ignoring the 154 objections is if Vista Leisure do not get the footfall then they will come back to the Council for extra money.
To run a sport centre is expensive and it is cheaper for the Council to out source the centre. When the price rise comes in we are concerned that parking in the area will become overused, and any free parking in the area will be swamped eg like on street parking.Of course one of our occasional forum members can walk to the Sport Centr the same one in charge of the Parking!
If you knew what I know,we would both be in trouble!

i thought this was old news john i must have missed a previous u turn.
thought long and hard about it and i don't see nigel being an avid user of the sports centre unless i have misunderstood him.

You need a car to get to the Sports Centre as there is such a poor bus service. I would have to get a taxi there and back so I never use it even though I need and would like more exercise.
It should have been built in a more central area of the town in the first place.

a bus goes past on an hourly basis during the day monday to saturday.
must be that they work on the basis of all their members being fitness freaks and willing to jog down from the outlying villages like whitfield and river.

One bus an hour in town is a poor bus service that is why so many use their car.

Thanks for that JHG, my son joined Tides this week and I asked about car park charges and he said they are refunded at the desk, he will not be happy to know that is ending
