There is a row of drop-down links across the top of the page to assist navigation around the site.
While I see a benefit of a blog-topic mirror thread appearing on the forum, as well as mirrors of news items from the main page, I do not see why there should be a link to this blog or that news item appearing on the forum page passing-itself off as a thread.

Hi Tom,
I've tried to make it obvious that it's a link to Barry's Blog rather than a forum topic (I'll even add a special little icon if that would help?) - the problem has been that since the forum move at the beginning of the month, Barry's Blog has got a little lost in the other section.
It will only appear in the forum for 12 hours after a new post in the blog - if you've got any other suggestions on how to bring everything together, I'm very much open to ideas!

Forgive me, do. For not seeing your point of view from the off Chris. I have always had my bookmark set to Barry's blog and navigate my own way to the 'letters page'/forum etc..
That others are incapable of doing something similar I will, with all due humility, accept.
I did mention that there may be good reasons for having threads that tie-in with news items and blogs.

Maybe not very many are interested in Barry's Blog. The link at the top of this page just under the advert is obvious enough I even saw it on the first day.

We'll see how it goes - the eventual idea is for it to drop down (like a forum topic) - this way anyone not interested wont find it at the top of the list all the time. But that requires a little more time to set up...hence the 12 hour cut off at the moment.

123,294 hits in 3 years Jan. Well in excess of what was expected and actually increased after the election when I was temporarily updating daily. Good going that.
Anyone not interested in politics need not view it. I can understand whysome of my political adversaries would prefer it to be less prominent. Seems Chris has established a good compromise. I tend to update every 2/3 days.

So...people can and do find it easily enough.

My point was that even though I have no interest and have never read it I saw where it was on the first day of the change over.

Way back when, do you mean Howard?
To paraphrase that hero of international renown, one JT Kirk, "Beam me, Scottie up!"
As with all my other Google searches...
Google-genie, do locate
an air, a ditty, comic song
tangentially appropriate
If not they, an arcane fact
or a neither tedious nor long
erudicious explanatory tract
In truth Howard I found 'them'. It's a question of asking the 'right' question.

I fully support the idea of Barry's blog receiving a place at the top of the list of the threads page every time a new blog post appears on it.
This in the name of reciprocal tolerance and respect of different people's views, even if not always reciprocated.

I did put my point of view on the blog itself, I also feel that it should not come on to this page at all,but on saying that Chris is the boss and is running the forum,so the last word must be his about it.
