The post you are reporting:
Yes you are right Howard, but some of the things we come across eg Anti-Social behaviour can be worked at at different levels, and pressure can be put in the right area from a number of different ways, you are right the Community Warden walks round the Ward on a daily basis, she wears a uniform, people trust her and tell her things that they would not tell me when I go round, not everyone knows me.
You mentioned the Mural on another forum, well let me tell you how multi-agency it was.
I recieved a phone call from a Mrs Taylor who doesn't live in my Ward, but the path that goes past her property leads to Tower Hamlets, she called me because she had several problems from Anti-Social behaviour,to dirty footpaths to noise, litter and believe it or not a squirrel problem.Yes the Squirrels would go into the flats where they live and tear their lambs wool rugs to pieces.
KCC Warden gave my name,I contacted the Anti Social Behaviour Unit and didn't get very far, contacted the Waste Unit to get the path cleaned regually, contacted the Schools.Contacted KCC to get the Street Light fixed, and asked Cllr Gordon Cowan for some grant money.Asked School to do the Mural, asked the man who garage it was if it was OK and he said yes,but did not want the panels that the School said they would do.Asked another School, they said Yes,ok'ed it with the Garage owner he said OK.
The lady got the trees cut back by contacting the owners and Southern Housing,Camera went up to monitor the area, then the Mural started, help from Dover Decor Centre who gave advice and kept the bill until KCC came up with the money, there was a delay because I am not a company or a project so had to go thru the School.PCSO and the Commuity Warden and I along with the teacher and the Garage owner managed and Supervised the site and the Mayor came and opened it after the 2 lads had done the Mural.Mrs Taylor then talked Southern Housing into putting a fence up,now the problem is not solved but the area has been cleaned up,yes they still have a problem once in a while, but guess what the wall has not been graffitied, and every comment we have had is positive. The Community Warden Alison checks the path daily and if she sees any problems you phones them thru.Partnership working, and just to show you we didn't just throw up the mural.
