Howard, here's a different view.
We didn't call for a referendum on the port because of 1) the cost to our parish finances 2) the small number in our parish which would make the vote less likely to be noticed than the DTC vote 3) a trust that the facts of the case would be assessed on their merits.
And I did hear rumours as to why several current parish councillors decided not stand again, work it out for yourself
