    DOVER VISITOR INFORMATION CENTRE -
A WARM WELCOME FROM THE HEART OF THE TOWN

Dover Visitor Information Centre is extending a warm welcome to residents and visitors from its new location in the heart of the town, within Dover Museum, in the Market Square, and partners joined together to celebrate the official opening today.

The new-look VIC follows close partnership working and investment by Dover District Council and Dover Town Council to deliver a brand new centre for visitors and local residents at this key central location in the town.

Extending out into the Museum arcade, a glass box has been formed around the existing archways of the listed original 1848 façade. This has provided a new fully accessible area for the VIC, as part of the extended Museum space.

Dover VIC is recognised as an 'Official Partner' by Visit England for its commitment to customer care and the visitor experience. The friendly and knowledgeable staff provide accurate and impartial key information to all visitors to Dover and White Cliffs Country.

The official launch took place today (Monday 24 September) and included speeches by key representatives, and a ribbon cutting by Cllr Sue Nicholas, Chairman of Dover District Council, and Deputy Town Mayor Cllr Ronnie Philpott.

Cllr Kit Smith, DDC Cabinet Member for Skills, Training and External Relations said: "The 'i' brand is recognised and trusted throughout the world and by working together, the District and Town Councils are providing a world class visitor information service. This represents a significant investment in the future of the area, and we are very pleased to be able to open this new centre."

Cllr Sue Jones, Chairman of the Town Council Community & Services Committee said: "It has been a long road to get the VIC where it needs to be, delivering all the services it has in the past, but with an enhanced shop and knock on benefit for the Museum, in the heart of Dover. It just shows what can be done if there is the collective will to do it."

The VIC provides a valuable resource for local residents and visitors. You can book travel tickets and get information on local days out, you can also take the opportunity to visit the shop or see Dover Museum and its exhibits.
