Howard, I assume you are referring to closing down the job-centre, but have you a proposal as to how to get millions of people in Britain on part-time work, which would still bring in more money than combined benefits?
And more than that, have you an idea of how to convince the Councils and may-be even Gov. to go ahead with good proposals? I've got a few ideas myself, and I think they are already known on the Forum, one is to go for increasing agricultural production at home, so-by reducing imports of apples and the like that easily grow here, and supplying the world's increasing population with food in return for a fair price!
As well as getting the textile industry and other old disappeared sectors of production back and running on the Home Front. If this thread of yours, assuming it implys that what I understood, went beyond a joke, it ... w o u l d .... be great!

anything in old fashioned manufacturing is now done by china and india, once they recah a stage when their workers want more in the way of wages and bonuses then another set of poor countries(maybe north korea) will enter the fray.

13 October 2010 19:4874890The only way to get real jobs is to encourage people to create or grow existing small and medium sized businesses - government has demonstrated time and again it cannot create jobs that are meaningful, productive and beneficial to the country. They should incentivise small businesses to grow and create jobs etc.
They should also do things like set up jobs clubs that work with small businesses and local colleges to take people off benefits, pay them whilst training and fast track them once qualified into vacancies amongst the business members of the jobs club. This helps small business as they know what they are getting, have a hand in training them etc. It helps the state as it moves people off benefit into work and being productive etc. It helps the individual by weaning them off dependency and into the habit of work."Dream as if you'll live forever.
