An interesting one that.
S&P made an error in their calculation of $2trillion when they downgraded the USA and had to call their European committee members out of bed to review the rating downgrade by teleconference. It was a big surprise that they decided to stick with their downgrade and a very controversial one under the circumstances. I would not be surprised if this decision is reviewed again.

Keeping it at AAA when the US was hurtling towards a debt to GDP ratio of 100 pct was illogical in my opinion and was a result of the rating agencies being in denial.
