Pay no attention to those fools, Howard. Whatever they say you can disregard as being as pointless as Daves' slogan "The greenest government" etc. More like the greenest Prime minister since John Major methinks.
Bills certainly will not drop even if fracking is undertaken or not. Over the next few years bills will definitely rise because of utopian low carbon economy nonsense to the tune of extra hundreds of pounds a year for the average consumer.
The point is that by producing gas from fracking it will likely have a profound effect on our GDP and mean that we won't be as reliant on other countries to supply fuel. Hopefully there will be enough to sell as well.
Sadly the restrictions imposed on fracking mean that I'm not to hopeful that widespread use of this fuel will manifest itself.
Under current restrictions if a leaf falls off a tree during the fracking process that particular field will be forced to shut down until it's considered "safe" to do so. - 20 May 2013 23:42230115Just spotted this:

I went down to visit a friend in Sussex last week who took me to a place near a village called Balcombe where there was a demonstration against fracking..I didn't know what to say when he asked me if I was against fracking, as to the best of my knowledge I had never tried it, so I said that I was willing to give it a go.
He said it involved drilling and pumping a chemical fluid into a well at a high pressure which would shatter the rock strata and................ It all sounded rather dangerous to me so at that point I didn't stay to hear the rest and left rather hurriedly!

Roger - 28 July 2014 14:42269950When this country has experienced it's first few blackouts it's then that people will be asking the question "Why oh why didn't we start fracking years ago and stop the obsession with building more windmills and useless solar arrays?".
By then, of course, it will be too late - the damage will have been done. The consequences are too painful to even think about. The City of London's position as a World financial centre will have been dealt a fatal blow. Other business and firms up and down the country will suffer losses which will put them out of business creating hundreds of thousands of unemployed.
Energy is the most important issue that faces us all over the next few years which one reason I won't be voting this time round.
The ridiculous position of the labour party is so potty on this issue that only a complete moron would fall for the ramblings of those who think that we can get through this by freezing energy bills and building more "renewables".
As for the tories, well they're a lost cause in all this and are determined to confuse the issue and prevaricate and do nothing. They have signed a deal to build a nuclear plant which would produce the World's most expensive electricity. The tools!
Then we have the salt in the wounds rubbed in by some new eco-development supposedly researching "clean" forms of energy on what was a perfectly productive coal mine.
It's an insult to white elephants.
Energy policy is run by the likes of Greenpeace, WWF and the RSPB.

The issues over fracking not clear cut, the maps are very vague and it is not clear how national parks or AONB will be protected. Interesting that the economic powerhouse of Europe i.e. Germany have rejected it outright because of the threat to water supplies. - 28 July 2014 18:28269976Locally we cannot afford to allow fracking because of the water supply to our district - it's all in acquifers and not much to spare.
It was and has been stated by the fracking companies that chemicals are used, but they won't say which ones and whether they would pollute the water supply.
I do believe that there will be areas (quite a lot of them around the country) that can safely allow fracking, but after our scrutiny of it at DDC, so much information came out, that the recommendation was NO.
I cannot say whether I am for or against wind and solar farms as I am on the planning committee and that would be predetermination.

Several papers, including the i and Daily Mail, feature research which links repeated miscarriages to faulty sperm.
Am I missing something?(Not my real name.)
