When I was still at schools and they had endless washing powder adverts on the telly there was a long poem supposedly written by a Pakistani chap about his new life in this country. The verse I always remember was this one.

One day white man come inside.
Ask me if I wash in tide.
I say "course I wash in tide.
Too damn cold to wash out tide".
