This is the UNITE/UNISON union marching up the seafront a few minutes ago. I take it they are heading to the DHB headquarters along the seafront...but ermm no no..as I watch they have gone right by.
Now crossing over the swing bridge...
Not sure which particular dispute this is about but I have a feeling the workers have a few very genuine grievances judging by what Im hearing through the grapevine.

Paul, I note that High Tide is at 14.33 today.
Possibly a re-run of the Canute scenario??????????
One wonders who are the lions and who are the donkeys?

It might depend on how you photographed the march, Paul, but if your camera got the whole picture, then it would seem that there are as many Police as union-members on the march there!

If the latter be the case, then I'd equate this march to the roar of the mouse!

Just to get back briefly on Alexanders point...thats almost the full total of marchers...I think there were 2 more to the left. So not a vast crowd but colourful. Ive since heard they were on there way to Snargate St for a bit of a rally.
Yes there may be a problem holding back the port privatisation tide Im afraid.

May-be they are gathering reinforcements, Barry, and will presently march past, bagpipes sounding, drums beating!

Just strolling round the marina for a walk, and look to see if Modern Gent was open, when lo and behold, I saw all these flags in the distance. I thought it was an RMT ralley, so went back towards their headquarter`s, then spotted the marcher`s all going into Bluebird`s.
Tell them that I came, and no one answered.

the thing that strikes me in the pics from paub and colin is the ratio of police to demonstrators.
no doubt there were meat wagons with reinforcements if necessary.
where do they all come from all of a sudden?

Going by your picture PaulB, there only seems to be one marcher, as others pictured are either police or stewards in hivis - Great turnout

Although the protest is totally futile, the marcher/s has/have a point of view and deserve to be heard.
