People generally haven't got the money to get work done.
Many years ago I could earn 100 marks a day in Germany, rent and expenses paid for, without a problem.
Here in present day old England, it's going downhill somewhat rapidly. I immediately take a 3 hour job for a tenner, but many jobs require a few days work, and that's where people ain't got the loose money.
Ian, I wish I knew some idea, but unfortunately can't think of anything to give you a clue. Any little jobs I know of, I scrounge for myself. Best of luck to you though!
I'm seriously thinking of swimming the Channel next year, hoping to raise a thousand quid for a pub with no beer!

I, for one, like to get my facts right, on the ground, so to speak...
The Dover Harbour Board, claim to be the prime employers, in the area... certainly in their remit for privatisation/ selling what isn't theirs remit....
However, who/what are the major/minor employers in the area?
Lots of building going on.retail/especially up at Whitfield, the second town
Dover Sea Village/Whitfield Town.....There you go, they could have Burlington house/ or take the Masts which have become all important...some employment there.....

A further 80,000 young people are just joining that non-illustrious list. I saw Ed Balls on Newsnight last night and he said he had been warning all along that they (the government) were cutting too fast and too deep and this is the consequence. You know I am beginning to believe him. Other voices are now beginning to call for a softening of the government stance.

15 September 2011 08:18126554strange set of goverment policys here,firstly they want to cut benifits to save money.secondly the goverment says that the private sector will take up the slack from the public sector,i am affraid its not working.

The sad situation is that there are very few seriously solid employers locally. No one recruiting on a large scale. Perhaps that is why we see a lot of smaller enterprise efforts opening. People are trying to do it for themselves.
