    Barry, the unemployment problem in Britain has nothing to do with high taxation.
    Pay £6.13 to a Brit or to a non Brit is the same in terms of taxation.
    Many private sector factory and farm employers in South East England won't dream of employing a Brit because we can barely survive on that sum of money, so we won't be happy.

    They know this, and deduct from that, that we'd be less enthusiastic at work, and would complain among each other about it, agree to form a union and ask for a wage increase.

    Keith B is absolutely right.
